Tabling Impeachment
House Resolution 939, "Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States for high crimes and misdemeanors", was tabled on December 11th, 2025. The same author of the bill to impeach the criminal chief executive in September, Representative Al Green (D), presented this bill for a floor vote.
The motion to table (kick to the curb) this bill passed. Seventy three of Green's own party members sided with Republican Reps to help table this bill, and avoid impeaching Donald Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. Three did not vote. Forty seven voted "Present" in a gesture that telegraphed their inability to take a firm stand for or against the bill-- this of course helped defeat the bill.
Twenty three Dems were courageous enough to vote YEA and openly side with the GOP in defending Trump from a much-deserved impeachment.

Takeaways
Some faceless authors on Bluesky claim that it's good strategy for the Dems to NOT pursue an impeachment while they're the minority party and cannot take steps to remove Trump from office even if they impeach him. They argue that it's bad optics for the Dems to bring failed actions into the public eye, as this will hurt their chances in the next election.
I feel this is rubbish. First off, there is no guarantee that we will see another election. We have witnessed a wholesale criminal attack on our government's norms and our social fabric in 2025. Any reluctance to make official complaints about this is madness, and is reputational cancer for these Dems.
While impeachment is a statement of criticism and does not remove the impeached official from government, it is essential to demonstrate to the American people that the so-called oppostion party is actually opposed to: kidnappings, deportations, and murders by ICE; naked grift, patronage, and blackmail by the President; the dismantling of our healthcare, education, and government service by various unelected officials.
Dems who are siding with the GOP who have enabled this are committing a grievous error, and tarnishing their entire party's image by refusing to fight tooth and nail against this very openly criminal regime. They are either overconfident fools, or they are quietly aligned with Trump's outrageous actions.
